Venue: McDonald Rd, Whangarei Heads

Jagannath Family Festival 2016 is located at Manaia Baptist Camp, 25 minutes east of Whangarei, on the beautiful coastline of Whangarei Heads. It is approx. 2 1/2 hours drive from Auckland.

The Camp  is situated on a beautiful bay called Mcleods Bay, about 25 minutes drive from Whangarei. There are fantastic beaches all around, and plenty of nice bush walks and coastal walks.

Details of the camp are here: http://www.regentcommunitytrust.org/manaia-camp.html scan down this page to view the  variety of lodges, halls, and accomodation included with the camp, as well as the all important commercial kitchen facility. Of course there are also camp sites for those who wish to be in tents (or… more intense :-) details of the facilities can be seen in the photos on their Facebook page.

NOTE: Accommodation is in simple lodges on bunk beds, and is limited to 80 people. There is very limited facility for camping (only 2 or 3 tent sites). If you would prefer to camp, please specify this on the registration form. There is a beautiful camping ground called Blue Heron Holiday Park only 3 minutes down the round from Manaia Camp. We are currently negotiating with the owner for good rates, but this will be dependent on how many wish to camp there.

Manaia Camp a truly wonderful venue with great facilities, at very reasonable rates, and we are looking forward to hosting and serving you all again.

Thank you! Looking forward to Jagannatha Family Festival 2016!

1. Take State Highway 1 through to Whangarei

2. Once in Whangarei, head over the bridge towards Onerahi and Whangarei Heads. Full details here.

3. Drive towards Whangarei Heads until McLeods Bay Store, drive 1.5kms further, then on the right is McDonald Road, (about 34km from Whangarei). The camp is through the gates at the end of McDonald Rd. Open Google Map in a separate window.

There is a range of accomodation available according to your preference. This year there is limited tent sites available for those who prefer to camp at Manaia Camp. Allocation of tent sites will be given on a first in -first served basis. Once the three tent sites have gone, there is a very nice holiday park just 3 minutes down the road called Blue Heron Holiday Park. It is right on the waterfront. Prices are a little expensive tho as it is peak time. We are trying to negotiate a bulk rate, but this is dependent on how many people will be wanting to stay there so please send in your registration forms promptly.

For those who prefer to be under a ‘solid roof ‘, there are 4 different lodges,  with varying numbers of rooms, and all with simple bunk beds. In all there are 15 different rooms available with anywhere from 2 to 12 bunks in each. Rooms will be allocated as the regsitrations come in. Obviously, we will ensure that families are kept together , and as much privacy as possible for each family , but please understand that it could be possible that you may have to share a room with another friend or family.  2 of the cottages have only 2 rooms in them, and accommodate up to 8 people. If you are interested to book either of these cottages (perhaps with a friend and family?) there is an $80 charge for the 4 day use of cottage (in addition to per person charge). If you are interested in this please let me know ASAP.

If you would like to arrive and stay on the Thursday 4th, this is no problem, just let us know on the registration form. Similarly, you may wish to stay on an extra day and night and leave on Wednesday 10th. This is also no difficulty. You can let us know on the registartion form or at any time during the festival.

Note : You will need to bring your own bedding.

Prasadam will be served for all devotees and guests 3 times a day (breakfast , lunch and evening) except the arrival day (Friday 5th) there will be only evening meal, and the departure day (Tuesday 9th) there will be only breakfast. As we know, devotees love cooking, serving and honouring prasadam! Anyone interested to cook one or 2 meals, or to help in the kitchen please contact Buddhi (022) 121 89 08. We would like to get a roster of cooks organised well before the festival if possible.
